I recently painted 100 extinct birds as part of a project that was called 100 Birds You Will Never See Again. The main purpose was to bring awareness to extinct birds as well as honor each one. These birds are truly lost gems. The reality is that you, your children, and future generations will never get to meet these lost birds.

This one goes beyond and brings the count to 101, with so many more...

The Tooth-billed Pigeon or Little Dodo.

The Little Dodo is dwindling, because of ongoing habitat loss, limited range, small population size, hunting and occasional cyclones. As well as the likely impact of introduced species such as pigs, dogs, rats and cats. The tooth-billed pigeon is evaluated as critically endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Surveys suggest numbers are critical and that 70 to 380 individuals survive in the wild
