I recently painted 100 extinct birds as part of a project that was called 100 Birds You Will Never See Again. The main purpose was to bring awareness to extinct birds as well as honor each one. These birds are truly lost gems. The reality is that you, your children, and future generations will never get to meet these lost birds.

The Himalayan Quail

A Himalayan Quail in his hat. These shy dapper birds were seen very rarely, except at dawn or dusk hiding in tall grasslands. The Himalayan Quail are on the critically endangered list even though the last verifiable sighting was in 1876.. They are considered extinct.
