I recently painted 100 extinct birds as part of a project that was called 100 Birds You Will Never See Again. The main purpose was to bring awareness to extinct birds as well as honor each one. These birds are truly lost gems. The reality is that you, your children, and future generations will never get to meet these lost birds.

The Black Mamo

A handsome Black Mamo from Maui.  People wrote that often these little birds  forehead would be dusted with pollen of its favorite food.  Only this bird can pull off such a colorful cap.
