I recently painted 100 extinct birds as part of a project that was called 100 Birds You Will Never See Again. The main purpose was to bring awareness to extinct birds as well as honor each one. These birds are truly lost gems. The reality is that you, your children, and future generations will never get to meet these lost birds.

The Javan Lapwing


A Javan Lapwing in a hat. These handsome birds were last seen in 1940, and as it was a conspicuous species unlikely to be overlooked, it seems likely that it is extinct.

Now gone... considered Extinct .
