I recently painted 100 extinct birds as part of a project that was called 100 Birds You Will Never See Again. The main purpose was to bring awareness to extinct birds as well as honor each one. These birds are truly lost gems. The reality is that you, your children, and future generations will never get to meet these lost birds.

No. 90 in the series.

The South Island Adzebill

A South Island Adzebill from New Zealand. Adzebills were similar to the Moa, and even early mistake as a small Moa. They were flightless and had extremely reduced wings, smaller than those of the dodo compared to the birds' overall size.

Now Gone.... extinct 1500s.
